Emerging advisory capability

AI Security for Industrial and Critical Infrastructure Environments

Securing intelligent applications, automated workflows and AI-enabled integrations where digital decisions can affect real-world operations.

Service areas

Key capabilities

  • AI application security architecture reviews
  • AI agent identity and privileged-access design
  • Secure integration of AI systems with enterprise and industrial data
  • AI data access and trust-boundary assessment
  • AI-related threat modelling
  • Security considerations for industrial AI deployments
  • OWASP LLM security risk alignment
  • Human oversight and approval controls for sensitive AI-driven workflows

Business outcome

Help organisations adopt AI-enabled technology with appropriate security boundaries, identity controls, oversight and auditability.

Remote advisory and architecture delivery are available where appropriate, subject to client requirements, agreed scope and authorised access.

Scope and boundaries

Emerging advisory capability. No claims of established AI security client engagements, specialist AI red-team delivery or proprietary AI security tooling.

Our approach

Identity, authorisation and industrial information

AI agents need distinct identities, narrowly scoped authorisation and least-privilege access to approved information sources. Separate retrieval of industrial information from privileged actions. Protect confidential operational data, validate information integrity and constrain access across established IT/OT trust boundaries.

Untrusted input and architecture threat modelling

Retrieved documents, user prompts and external tool responses can contain prompt injection or misleading instructions. Architecture threat modelling considers these inputs, data leakage, excessive agency and unsafe tool use, with OWASP LLM security risks informing the review. Treat model output as untrusted rather than as authority to change industrial systems.

Human oversight before privileged actions

Keep AI advisory functions separate from operational control authority. Sensitive workflows require explicit human approval, independent authorisation checks and defined failure behaviour. Industrial AI must respect operational safety, availability and established change-control processes; a model recommendation is not permission to actuate equipment.

Audit logging and accountability

Record agent identity, approved data access, tool calls, decisions and human approvals with appropriate confidentiality controls. Make actions attributable and reviewable. Define responsibility for oversight, incident investigation and stopping a workflow when evidence is incomplete.

Representative use cases

Illustrative scenarios, not completed CYBRIEM client projects.

  • A maintenance assistant retrieves approved manuals and historian summaries using read-only access; an engineer validates its recommendations.
  • An AI-assisted vendor-access workflow drafts an access request; an authorised person approves scope and duration before access is provisioned.
  • An engineering assistant proposes configuration changes in a separate advisory workspace; established review and change control retain operational authority.
